Stuart Craig, Oscar-winning production designer of the Harry Potter films, dies at 83

According to CinemaDrame News Agency, Stuart Craig, the British production designer of all the Harry Potter films as well as The English Patient, Dangerous Liaisons, and Gandhi, passed away on September 7 at the age of 83. His death was confirmed by the British Film Designers Guild.
Neil Lamont, a member of the guild, wrote on Facebook: “It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my friend and mentor, production designer Stuart Craig, who died last night, September 7, after a long battle with Parkinson’s at the age of 83. Stuart was one of the greatest film designers in Britain, and perhaps in all of cinema… a true giant!”
Craig’s film credits also include The Elephant Man, Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes, Cry Freedom, Chaplin, and The Secret Garden. He won his first Academy Award in 1983 for Gandhi, his second in 1989 for Dangerous Liaisons, and his third in 1997 for The English Patient.
In later years, Craig served as production designer for all of the Harry Potter films as well as the Fantastic Beasts trilogy.
